GSMA Career Mentorship Program
Creating a sustainable and diverse medical workforce is instrumental to eliminating health disparities and assuring equity in the communities most at risk of poor health outcome. The GSMA Career Mentorship Program (GCMP) aims to energize, cultivate and empower students in K-16 to successfully pursue and complete a medical education. The programs goals also seek to provide guidance to medical students and early career health professionals to navigate their professional pursuits and provide guidance to assure safe retention in their work environment. GSMA is committed to improving the quality of health among minorities and disadvantaged people through its membership, professional development, community health education, advocacy, research and partnerships with federal and private agencies. Throughout its history the Georgia State Medical Association has focused primarily on health issues related to African Americans and medically underserved populations; however, its principles, goals, initiatives and philosophy encompass all ethnic groups.
