Georgia State Medical Association, Inc. (GSMA) is the state affiliate of the National Medical Association (NMA). The State Association was founded in 1893.
Georgia State Medical Association, Inc. (GSMA) is the collective voice of African American physicians and a leading force for parity and justice in medicine and the elimination of disparities in health.

Selected GSMA Achievements
The Georgia State Medical Association honors outstanding members and other professionals who have made significant contributions in medicine and toward the work of the GSMA itself.
Members of Georgia State Medical Association serve on the faculties of all medical schools in the state – Morehouse School of Medicine, Emory University School of Medicine, the Medical College of Georgia, Mercer University School of Medicine and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
The administrative office of GSMA is located on the campus of Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta. The association meets quarterly and holds its Annual Convention each June.

The GSMA Foundation is a non-profit, non-stock, 501(c)(3) corporation and GSMA Foundation contributions are tax-deductible.
GPA strongly advocates for policies and legislation designed to narrow the health disparities gap and to improve the quality of life for all Georgia residents. GPA leverages its resources and builds alliances necessary to ensure access to health care, affordable for all Georgia residents, with emphasis on those with the greatest need.

Our goal is to provide a robust menu of value-added goods and services that benefit our members built on well-researched, strong, trust-based relationships.
Worse than trying and failing is "Failing to Try"
The combined resources provided by GSMA members are applied to:
Develop a strenuous program in continuing medical education (CME) to ensure that GSMA members remain abreast of rapidly occurring advances across the various medical specialties.• Conduct the annual GSMA Convention and Scientific Assembly. Through the presentation of CME programs at the state level, GSMA members are able to meet Category 1 requirements for the Physician’s Recognition Award of the American Medical Association (AMA). GSMA offers programs in a number of specialties — from Aerospace Medicine to Urology. GSMA programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) via our partner relationship with Morehouse School of Medicine.

Incredible Achievements
Promote and support biomedical research that contributes to the advancement of knowledge and treatment of diseases, disabilities and adverse health problems that disproportionately or differentially affect African American and other minority populations.
Advocate for health policies that improve the quality and availability of health care, particularly to African American and other minority and underserved populations.
• Conduct public education to prevent health problems and promote healthy lifestyles among African American and other minority and underserved populations.
